Keeping Your Car Running Like New With Regular Maintenance

While automotive maintenance is only necessary a couple of times a year, it is still necessary. Don’t feed into the belief that “if it isn’t broken, don’t fix it.” There are plenty of preventive measures that can be taken to ensure that major automotive problems don’t pop up in the future. Keeping up with scheduled maintenance is the difference between having the same car for ten years and prematurely sending it off to the junk yard.

Here is a checklist of a regular maintenance schedule. Follow it to ensure that your car continues to run in tip-top shape:

Every 3 Months or 5,000 Miles

Check and inspect the coolant level, coolant mixture, lug bolts, oil, power steering fluid, and brake fluid
Refill washer fluid
Get an oil change every 5,000 miles, no matter the time frame

Every 6 Months or 8,000-10,000 Miles

Check tire depth, spark plug wires, and brake systems
Perform battery cleaning
Replace windshield wipers

Every Year or 12,000-15,000 Miles

Fuel pressure regulation and timing belt inspection
Radiator flush
Replace spark plugs, brake pads, and fuel filter
ABS sensor maintenance

The New and Improved Chevy Impala Badge

The 2014 Chevrolet Impala was unveiled at the New York auto show last week, but it’s not the Impala’s all-new body style or projected best-in-class fuel economy that has people buzzing; it’s the Impala’s new badge.

The newest version of the badge features the African herbivore leaping much like in previous illustrations, but this one flaunts strong lines and curves in an attempt to make the Impala appear more agile and muscular.

Creator Joan Kallio, the lead creative designer on Chevrolet global badging, said “We kept the stylized, rather than literal, interpretation of the animal, and made the Impala more muscular.”

The Impala Badge has changed a lot over years, and was even removed from the exterior of the vehicle from 1968 to 1985. But don’t worry: the Impala symbol is prominently featured on the 2014 model. Look for its arrival at your local Chevy dealer, Royal Chevrolet.

Chevy Volt Declared Best Total Value in Strategic Vision Study

A new Strategic Vision study named the Chevy Volt the overall leader in its Total Value Index (TVI). While the Volt may carry a comparatively hefty price, the value that buyers receive from owning one more than makes up for the initial price.

Concluded from a survey of over 68,000 car buyers, the Strategic Vision TVI is calculated with two key parts. First, drivers are asked questions related to their overall assessment of their vehicles. The second part involves an assessment of the costs associated with vehicle ownership.

In addition to being the top rated vehicle overall, the Chevy Volt also led the Mid-Size Car category of the Strategic Vision TVI with a score of 836 out of a possible 1,000 points.
